SoonCall is operated by Mark Robert Sindoni Houghton, a sole trader based in Italy. Contact: mark@sooncall.com. This policy covers the SoonCall app for iPhone and iPad and the sooncall.com website.
What stays on your device
The friends and family you add (names, phone numbers, birthdays and notes) are stored on your device. The app does not send them to us or to our providers. When you tap to call or message someone, their number is passed to the app or service you chose, including WhatsApp. iOS is given your friends' names so Siri and Shortcuts can recognise them. Device backups, and backup files you export, contain this data.
The app works without an account, name or email address.
What the app sends us
The app does send information about how it is used and how it performs: features used, answers you give during setup, device and app details, IP address and approximate region, crash and performance data, purchase and subscription status, device and installation identifiers including the notification token, and, if you installed after tapping an App Store search ad, which ad that was.
This includes some choices you make about a friend, such as their group, time zone, or how a catch-up was rated. These are sent without their name. From version 1.10.2, each catch-up also carries a short code created on your device. It is not made from your friend's name or number and does not tell us who they are. It only shows that two catch-ups were with the same person.
There is currently no setting in the app to turn this off.
We use information to provide the app and subscriptions, keep it working, understand and improve how it is used, and contact you. It is kept for as long as those purposes need.
Your email address and feedback
An email address is optional. If you enter one in the app, it is stored with our providers, including the analytics, subscription and newsletter providers, and may be linked to the usage information. It may be used to send you SoonCall news and to find your purchase. To stop emails or have your address removed, email mark@sooncall.com.
Anything you type into a feedback or survey prompt in the app is sent to our feedback and analytics providers. Please leave out information about other people.
Who we share it with
We use providers, currently including PostHog, Amplitude, Google Firebase, RevenueCat, Appero and MailerLite. Some are outside the European Union, including in the United States. Apple provides the App Store and takes payment for purchases made in the app; we do not receive card details.
The website
sooncall.com is built and hosted with Umso; its sign-up forms are provided by MailerLite. Like any website, it receives your IP address and browser details. Pages also load fonts, badges and a demo from third parties (including Google), which receive the same details. It also uses Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and the Meta Pixel to measure visits and our advertising, and these set cookies.
Your choices
By emailing mark@sooncall.com you can ask for a copy of the information held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it is used. There are no accounts, so we can usually only find information linked to an email address you gave in the app. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).
SoonCall is not directed at children. The date above is updated when this policy changes.
