SoonCall is the mobile app with the mission to strengthen connections and banish loneliness.
As the loneliness epidemic worsens, we’ve launched the SoonCall app to help people stay connected to their friends and family and strengthen relationships through regular phone calls.
Loneliness, isolation and a desire to be more connected is a universal issue. It is also a problem that exists across generations and is, seemingly, getting worse. Loneliness in older generations has been a topic of concern for a number of years, and now research is showing that younger people are also finding it harder to connect and maintain friendships.
The loneliness epidemic is being exacerbated by three key problems that are, seemingly, felt by a large percentage of the population.
It is well known that making friends as we get older is hard. Social circles shrink and opportunities to meet new, like-minded people diminish.
This alone should be a driving force in motivating people to maintain the relationships they already have. By focussing time and effort on keeping in touch, it becomes easier to nurture existing friendships. This is the main objective of the SoonCall app, to help people schedule regular catchups.
The rise in social media and online socialising means that more and more of us have friends that we have either never met (26% of us), or do not see regularly in person (29% of us). The remote nature of friendships can make it hard to foster the intimacy, chemistry and feel-good factor of an in-person meet-up. In an increasingly online world, SoonCall tries to encourage users to schedule a phone call with a friend, instead of relying on messages or voice notes.
Feeling that we have too many things to do and not enough time to do them is very familiar for many of us. When this happens, it can be too easy to de-prioritise the things that make us feel good, but feel like a luxury (such as exercising or socialising). In reality, these are activities that have been proven to have a positive impact on wellbeing and can reduce stress, anxiety and loneliness. SoonCall can help users manage their diary more effectively and plan in time and space for a proper catchup.
"If you love that feeling you get after a great chat with a friend, and would enjoy having more of those moments in your life, then SoonCall is definitely for you!
